Newsletter 10/14/12

Welcome to the first real post of Lange's new blog page! If everything goes well, I will be doing this format from now on. Tell me if there's anything that I could change or improve upon, or if I missed anything you wanted me to include. Thank you for your time!

House News:

  • We voted to turn on the heat this week, so Ryan will take this to Hall Council to see if the building's heat will be turned on.
  • We will be wooing our sister floor within the week, and we may be practicing once more before the actual wooing. (more details to follow)
  • Don't forget to vote in the presidential election coming up! If you still need to register go talk to Wyatt or go here: Register to Vote.
  • We are getting three vandalism charges for the damage done to the bathroom. Please dont let this happen again. However, the bathroom has looked much better this week, so thank you all for your hard work in keeping it nice.
  • Check Access Plus to see if you received any mid-terms. If you don't know what this is, it is when you are receiving a C- in a course or worse at the time of mid-terms. If you need any help with a class talk to Wyatt, Joel, Ryan, your adviser, your professor, your room-mate, someone on the floor who has taken the floor, a tutor...you get the idea, if you need help, there are plenty of resources. Just because you're not doing well in a class does not mean that you are stupid, everyone has subjects they may not be good at. Just do your best to improve the grade, or decide if it is necessary to drop the class.

BWR News:

  • Boys with Rakes is this Saturday, October 21st. Plan to meet up at 9a.m. and get to work raking some lawns!
  • They are voting to subsidize student tickets for the Madrigal dinner, which is a medieval themed dinner. Due to this subsidization, tickets will run for approximately $5.
  • They will be installing a single heavy-duty bike pump near the MU, if you have any ideas of where more bike RACKS should be placed talk to Tom or Ryan.
  • There will be a large Capture the flag game on October 21st, at noon in central campus.
  • Wear pink on next Wednesday, October 24th for breast cancer awareness.
  • We are still looking for ideas for a BWR t-shirt, come to Wyatt or Ryan if you have any ideas that you want to be submitted.
  • There may be a BWR talent show in which BWR challenge points may be awarded, more to come next week.

Intramurals:

  • We won our volleyball match, and our broom ball game. However, we lost our flag football game.
  • Talk to Joe for this week's intramural sign-ups, which include Battleship H2O and Badminton doubles.

BWR Challenge:

  • We got third place in kickball this week, which awarded us a decent amount of BWR points! We also got participation points for our corn-hole team this Sunday.
  • This weeks we have a BWR t-shirt creation session on Monday at 9p.m. in Welch Ayers rec room.
  • We will also have a tug-of-war match on Thursday at 5p.m. in the Richardson Courtyard.

Academics:

  • Once again, if you have a mid-term or any class you think you may need help in, go talk to Kyle, our academic chair so he can help you. There are plenty of people and resources to help you if you need them! Email Kyle here.
